SUSAN COOPER

Susan Cooper is an artist from Los Angeles, California. She received her BA and MA degrees in art from the University of California at Berkeley. She completed a commission for the School of American Research in Santa Fe for a year. After moving to Denver, she became Director of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute; followed by becoming the president for a total of 10 years, all the while painting and exhibiting her work. She exhibited at Inkfish gallery, Denver Art Museum, Museum of Outdoor art, Phoenix Art Museum, LA museum of contemporary art, fine Art museum of New Mexico, University of New Mexico, Lois Lambert Gallery in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Museum of Tolerance. and University of Kentucky. She has shown with William Havu Gallery for more than a decade. In the last 25 years, she has completed several public works, most recently a 68-foot resin mural for the State of Alaska. Other installations are in St. Louis, Jacksonville, Stockton, and Claremont, CA, as well as the Denver City and County Building, the Denver Public Library, and several Kaiser Permanente locations. Her public work can also be seen in Aurora, Durango, Pueblo, at colleges, universities, parks, an armory and a police station. Several art enhances are at 13 RTD stations around Denver. She has been awarded residencies at Yaddo, Saratoga NY; Reswell, New Mexico, and in La Napoule, France. The media she uses includes oil, acrylic, bronze, wood, resin, steel, glass, and plexiglas.

Susan’s work continually addresses the spaces in which we all live, changing as our environment and our lives transform.
